Erikユs WindowsDEF is a Control Panel that changes the appearance of the standard windows. You can disable the windows at any time by pressing the caps-lock key down. Your computer will then revert to the plain-old-normal (and did I mention boring?) windows.
NOTE: Although the windows look like Microsoftィ Windowsェ windows, your computer will NOT run Windowsェ applications.
The windows are basically the same in function, except for a few small differences. First on the list of differences is the two small buttons in the upper right of the window. The buttons have the same purpose as the zoom box in the normal windows. The arrow pointing upward zooms the window larger and the arrow pointing down shrinks the window. Second, the margin all around the window serves the same purpose as the grow box. =============================================================
THE CONTROL PANEL
To change the appearance of the windows, click on the configure button. The configure dialog will then appear. You can change the colors by clicking on the recessed color squares. The ヤdefaultユ button changes the windowユs colors to default colors used in Windowsェ. The ヤframe widthユ is a pop-up menu that allows you to change the frame width of the window. You may prefer to have the frame width wider to provide for easier window sizing.
After changing the aspects of the windows, you will not see the changes immediately. You will have to reopen the window to see the changes.
Also note the realistic Windowsェ buttons! I even wrote a CDEF for them. They only work in the control panel now.
The windows are very stable, but patching them into other programs causes a few problems. I do my best to work around these problems. Occasionally, a dialog box will appear with a non
functioning close box. This is caused because the normal window definition didnユt ever draw close boxes in a dialog window. Interestingly, the Finderユs close box works in most cases.
The close box and the zoom boxes donユt highlight on some computers. This happens on my sisterユs Mac II. It seems to me that my WDEF isnユt getting highlight messages for go-away boxes and zoom boxes from the system.
In Microphone Pro, the windows get totally screwed up because microphone messes with the dataHandle of the windows. This is a bug in Microphone (I think!). Again you can disable the windows at any time by pressing the caps-lock key down.
